Have you ever tried praising God but then after three, four, or five words you are like, “umm I don’t know what else to say?” I know! I get it! That used to be me as well.

Some people struggle with praising God. I don’t know what to say, what do I say? They’d ask. Well I’ve got an easy way to help you get started if you are struggling with what to say when praising God. Have you ever considered praising through your ABCs? I believe this is a crafty and fun way to get your praise on.

As you go through the alphabets, you will notice that some of them are easier than the others, especially when you get to V,W,X,Y,Z. This is when you get really creative with your words. The point is for you to have fun while praising the Lord. Remember, God inhabits the praises of His people (see Psalm 22:3).

Go ahead! Get started, and have fun with it!

Why Praise God Through Your ABCs?

Because it’s fun! But also because He is God all by Himself: He is the One that created you and I and the entire universe. (Think about that…the entire universe!).

Just to remind us from the words of King David in Psalm 103, here are just a FEW reasons why you and I should give God praise: David says

“Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things He does for me.” Then he begins listing some of these good things: “He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies. He fills my life with good things; my youth is renewed like the eagle’s!”

He continues on to say:

“The Lord gives righteousness and justice to all who are treated unfairly. The Lord is compassionate and merciful, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. He will not constantly accuse us, nor remain angry forever. He does not punish us for all our sins; He does not deal harshly with us, as we deserve. For His unfailing love toward those who fear Him is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth. He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west. The Lord is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him. For he knows how weak we are; He remembers we are only dust.” (Psalm 103: 1-13).

Whenever I read that scripture, it gets me all excited to praise God even more! It is such a powerful scripture that reminds us why God deserves our praise.

My Praise Through my ABCs

1. You are Almighty God, the Alpha and Omega, Anointed One, Ancient of Days
2. You are Beautiful beyond description; Bigger than the biggest, You are the Beginning and the End, You are my Beloved, Bright and Morning Star
3. You are the Creative Creator of Heaven and earth; You are Compassionate, my Comforter, the Chief Cornerstone, Champion
4. You are the Dream Giver, You are my Deliverer, Defender, You are Dependable
5. You are Excellent in all Your ways, the Beginning and the End, Ebenezer, Eternal, Everlasting God
6. You are Full of Mercy, the Faithful One, Father, my Freedom, All Consuming Fire
7. You are Great and Greatly to be praised, Glorious, God all by Yourself, the Great I Am, Gracious, Good
8. You are Highly exalted and Your ways are Higher than our ways, You are my Hope; You are Holy, my Hiding Place
9. You Ignite our faith, Infuse hope into us, and Impart love on us; You are the I Am that I Am, the One who Is and Is to come, Impossibility Specialist

21. You are Unbreakable, Unshakable Untamable, Unchangeable

Praise God in his holy house of worship, praise him under the open skies; Praise him for his acts of power, praise him for his magnificent greatness; Praise with a blast on the trumpet, praise by strumming soft strings; Praise him with castanets and dance, praise him with banjo and flute; Praise him with cymbals and a big bass drum, praise him with fiddles and mandolin.
